Our History

Since our opening day, Community State Bank has been committed to building personal relationships in the communities it serves. We strive to provide our customers with quality service by providing a variety of banking products that will help them attain their financial dreams. We support our community with time, talent, and resources. We want to be your "friend and neighbor" in addition to your banker. Our promise to you — "Establish a personal, trusted relationship by providing products and services you need to realize your financial dreams."

Community State Bank opened for business on Saturday, May 24, 1930 and accepted nearly $14,000.00 in deposits on that first day. Nine community members were elected to serve as the bank's first board of directors, and four capable people were chosen to serve as officers of the bank. Community State Bank remains a locally owned, independent, community minded financial institution. In 1984, a one bank holding company, Community Bancorp, was formed to act as the parent company for Community State Bank, ensuring local, independent operation.

Many changes have taken place in the bank's facilities over the past years. The original operation began in a rented building that housed the former Citizens State Bank. In 1972, over 2800 square feet were added to the bank building, including new teller stations, new drive-up banking facilities, new bookkeeping area and two new vaults. Most recently, 2500 square feet were added to the building. This 1999 project included a complete renovation of the bank, the addition of a new data processing facility, and an upgrade to the exterior of the building by adding new lights, roof, windows, and signage.

Growth has always been a part of Community State Bank. In 1996, we opened our second location. Our Twelve Mile Banking Office officially opened as Community State Bank on June 24, 1996. It serves the people of the Twelve Mile community and surrounding areas. The Twelve Mile Banking Office is a full service location with drive-up facilities and an ATM. Our third location was opened July 19, 2004 in Kewanna. This location serves the Kewanna community and surrounding area and is also a full service location with an ATM. On March 30, 2015, Community State Bank opened our fourth location in Walton. Our Walton office is a full service location with an ATM.
